Human Resources Management – 2nd Ontario Edition [New]

Human Resources Management – 2nd Ontario Edition teaches HRM strategies and theories in a Canadian context that any manager—not just those in HR—needs to know about recruiting, selecting, training, and compensating people. Most students will be managing people at some point in their careers and not necessarily in a human resource management capacity. As businesses cut back, they may outsource HR duties to outside vendors. Or, in smaller businesses, the HR department is sometimes small or non-existent, and managers from other departments have to perform their own HRM. Therefore, teaching HRM from the perspective of a general manager, in addition to an HR manager, provides more relevance to students’ careers and will give them a competitive advantage in the workplace. This book is a cloned version of Human Resources Management – Canadian Edition by Stéphane Brutus and Nora Baronian, published using Pressbooks under a CC BY-NC-SA (Attribution NonCommercial ShareAlike) license. Human Resources Management – 3rd Edition [New]

Human Resources Management (HRM) takes a strategic approach to recruit/hire, train, and retain the right people, for the right job, at the right time.  The goal of HRM is to support the organization in achieving its strategies and goals.  Companies understand “employees” are their biggest asset. This text covers the foundational knowledge and skills required for HRM in all businesses, whether local, regional, or global. It outlines challenges faced by human resources (HR) departments, and offers solutions on how to overcome them. The text also offers technology, tools, and processes to improve the efficiency of the HR department in an organization. The important role HR plays is also stressed throughout the text. The principles and concepts learned can be applied to all functions within HR. The text includes engaging critical thinking and reflective activities for students, as well as,  videos to enhance learning at an in-depth level; and offers teacher resources in lesson planning. Mastering Strategic Management: Evaluation and Execution, 1st Canadian Edition

Mastering Strategic Management is designed to enhance student engagement in three innovative ways. The first is through visual adaptations of the key content in the book. It is well documented that many of today’s students are visual learners. To meet students’ wants and needs (and thereby create a much better teaching experience for professors), Mastering Strategic Management contains multiple graphic concept pages in ever section of every chapter of the book. Think of graphic concept pages as almost like info-graphics for key concepts in each section. This feature sets Mastering Strategic Management apart from any strategic management book on the market today. The second way the authors capture student interest through their textbook is by using a real-world company as the running example in each chapter. For example, Chapter 1 in Mastering Strategic Management utilizes Blackberry to harness the conceptual coverage of the chapter in a running, corporate, application to which students will relate. The third inventive way Mastering Strategic Management holds the attention of strategic management students is through the “strategy at the movies” feature in each chapter that links course concepts with a popular motion picture (Description from resource).

Principles of Macroeconomic Literacy

This textbook emphasizes basic economic concepts such as value and cost in developing macroeconomic ideas. Students learn concepts involving credit markets, economic planning, and money through short fictional stories in which characters interact in an attempt to make themselves better off.

Principles of Macroeconomics (Lyryx)

Principles of Macroeconomics is an adaptation of the textbook, Macroeconomics: Theory, Markets, and Policy by D. Curtis and I. Irvine, and presents a complete and concise examination of introductory macroeconomics theory and policy suitable for a first introductory course. Examples are domestic and international in their subject matter and are of the modern era — financial markets, monetary and fiscal policies aimed at inflation and debt control, globalization and the importance of trade flows in economic structure, and concerns about slow growth and the risk of deflation, are included. This textbook is intended for a one-semester course, and can be used in a two-semester sequence with the companion textbook, Principles of Microeconomics. The three introductory chapters are common to both textbooks [Description from resource].

Principles of Macroeconomics 3e (OpenStax) [New]

Principles of Macroeconomics 3e covers the scope and sequence of most one semester introductory macroeconomics courses. The third edition takes a balanced approach to the theory and application of macroeconomics concepts. The text uses conversational language and ample illustrations to explore economic theories, and provides a wide array of examples using both fictional and real-world scenarios. The third edition has been carefully and thoroughly updated to reflect current data and understanding, as well as to provide a deeper background in diverse contributors and their impacts on economic thought and analysis. For example, the third edition highlights the research and views of a broader group of economists. Brief references and deeply explored socio-political examples have also been updated to showcase the critical – and sometimes unnoticed – ties between economic developments and topics relevant to students [Description from resource].

Principles of Microeconomics (Lyryx)

This book available through Lyryx Learning focuses upon the material that students need to cover in a first introductory course. It is slightly more compact than the majority of principles books in the Canadian marketplace. Decades of teaching experience and textbook writing has led the authors to avoid the encyclopedic approach that characterizes the recent trends in textbooks. While this book avoids calculus, and uses equations sparingly, it still aims to be rigorous.
