AutoCAD 2D eBook

The AutoCAD 2D eBook was written as a tool to guide and teach you to master AutoCAD. No two students learn at the same pace, therefore the eBook was written with competency-based modules. The competency-based modules are bite-size pieces that allow you to work at your own pace. They can be used to learn by distance education, correspondence, online, instructor-led classes, or by individuals teaching themselves to use AutoCAD in their own home or office. This eBook was designed to be used on AutoCAD software that was designed for the Windows operating system.

Includes: Competency labs, templates, and AutoCAD files for exercises

Basic Engineering Data Collection and Analysis

Contributors:

In Basic Engineering Data Collection and Analysis, Stephen B. Vardeman and J. Marcus Jobe stress the use of statistical concepts and methods in engineering practice. Step by step, students get real engineering data, examples, and case studies that illustrate the use and importance of the book’s statistical methods in realistic, thoroughly detailed situations. Many of the text’s exercises are derived from self-directed engineering student group projects. These features encourage students to work through the text material by carrying out their own data collection and analysis projects, from problem formulation through preparation of professional technical reports—just as if they were on the job. Additional materials (beyond the text itself) are available in the “Chapters” dropdown menu below, including: individual book chapters, chapter formula sheets, book datasets in digital form, a complete solutions manual for book exercises, a PDF supplement providing R language code and output for book examples, and files holding the R language code illustrated in the document [Description from resource].

Coastal Dynamics

This textbook on Coastal Dynamics focuses on the interrelation between physical wave, flow and sediment transport phenomena and the resulting morphodynamics of a wide variety of coastal systems. The textbook is unique in that it explicitly connects the dynamics of open coasts and tidal basins; not only is the interaction between open coasts and tidal basins of basic importance for the evolution of most coastal systems, but describing the similarities between their physical processes is highly instructive as well. This textbook emphasizes these similarities to the benefit of understanding shared processes such as nonlinearities in flow and sediment transport. Some prior knowledge with respect to the dynamics of flow, waves and sediment transport is recommended.

Introduction to Biosystems Engineering

Introduction to Biosystems Engineering can be used as a customizable text for university-level introductory courses in Biosystems Engineering. Written by an international team of authors, the book is divided into six sections aligned with technical communities within Biosystems Engineering: Energy Systems; Information Technology, Sensors, and Control Systems; Machinery Systems; Natural Resources and Environmental Systems; Plant, Animal, and Facility Systems; and Processing Systems. Within the sections, individual chapters focus on discrete topics that can be covered in one week of class. Each chapter contains the expected learning outcomes, key concepts, applications of the concepts, and worked examples.

The Primacy of the Public: Ethical Design for Technology Professionals

Contributor: Marcus Schultz-Bergin

The Primacy of the Public presents a framework for engineering and technology ethics focused around three core ethical principles: the principle of welfare, the autonomy principle, and the fairness principle. To support this framework, the book begins with an examination of multiple perspectives we may take on engineering and technology, all of which support the centrality of ethical analysis and evaluation. These include the nature of engineering as a profession, the social context of engineering and technology, and the view that many technologies constitute social experiments [Description from resource].

Structural Analysis (LibreTexts)

This open access text is intended to teach students the methods and techniques for the analysis of structures. This textbook is composed of three parts. The first part consists of an overview of structural analysis and introduces several structural loadings that may be considered during the analysis and subsequent design of structures. The second part covers classic methods of the analysis of determinate structures. The final section discusses classic methods for the analysis of indeterminate structures as well as methods for the analysis and construction of influence lines for indeterminate structures.

Traffic Flow Theory: An Introduction with Exercises

Traffic processes cause several problems in the world. Traffic delay, pollution are some of it. They can be solved with the right road design or traffic management (control) measure. Before implementing these designs of measures, though, their effect could be tested. To this end, knowledge of traffic flow theory is needed.
