Campanian-Maastrichtian sedimentary rocks exposed near Willow Creek provide an important record of depositional processes associated with ancient fluvial and marginal marine depositional systems that were once present in central Alberta. These rocks also contain numerous fossils from the same time period, including dinosaurs, molluscs, and various species of plants.
