Description:

This slide is where facilitators introduce the main objectives of the overall Transcultural Communications workshop.

This slide can also be used to recognize the main contributors for their leadership, dedication, and passion for this project and also thank the post-secondary institutions, student associations, and community organizations for their hard work on this Project. Please do not remove Creative Commons Acknowledgement.

Facilitator Tip:

It will be of assistance to have a tech support co-host for the Online delivery. They will post Activity directions in the group chat, manage the breakout rooms, prompt facilitators to keep to the timing, answer participant technical questions and relay participant comments/questions to facilitators.


Land Acknowledgement (slide 02)

Time: 2 minutes

Measurable objective:

Highlights the importance of Indigenous Land Acknowledgment and the role of the Indigenous in Transcultural Communications.

Description:

This slide is to highlight that the workshop facilitators wish to acknowledge the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories where they meet, present and work together.

Facilitator tips:

Refer to your own territories’ acknowledgements based on your workshop location in Canada or elsewhere. Refer to Indigenous Considerations Chapter section in the Pressworks, Online Education Resource for more insight.


New Facilitator Introductions (slide 03)

Time: 3 minutes

Description:

Each new Facilitator should participate in this activity and provide their:

  • Name and role
  • Organization
  • Something in their background/experience that others are not likely to know.

Session 2 Agenda (slide 04)

 * This slide is to assist the facilitators in time management as they deliver the workshop.


Workshop Outcomes Review (slide 05)

Time: 5 minutes

Measurable objective:

This slide provides a review of the Individual Focus of Session 1 and introduces the External Focus of Session 2, ensuring that the participants have a clear understanding of the intended workshop outcomes.

  • Remote meeting software with share screen, chat and breakout room capability (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

Description:

The discussion highlights that while the theme for Session 1 was Individual Focus leading to enhanced Self-Awareness, Session 2 has more of an External Focus through discussion of a World Cultural Framework.  It also highlights the specific intended outcomes for Session 2, with an aim to lead the participants to be able look inward in order to be better able to look outward.
