Activity #3: Chris Bashinelli Video & Discussion (slide 07)
Time: 15 minutes
Measurable objective:
This activity will lead workshop participants to consider how their environment and upbringing was or was not similar to that of Chris Bashinelli (the stoop). The participants will reflect on whether their environment was homogeneous (generally uniform in make up) or heterogeneous (varied in make-up) and how that may have influenced their views, values, beliefs and behaviours towards others.

This activity invites the participants to reflect on Bashinelli’s metaphor that our differences can be our greatest strength. Participants are asked to reflect on Chris Bashinelli’s message of growing up on the stoop by considering the following questions and then sharing their thoughts with the group.
- What in his message meant the most to you and why?
- How can our early experiences influence our views?

As this is the first personal disclosure for the workshop participants, it will assist in creating comfort for them if the facilitator(s) share their reflections and personal experiences.
Trans, Inter and Multicultural Explanation (slide 08)
