14. Making a Request Online
After sitting down at your desk, you open up your laptop and launch the internet. You navigate to the library website home page [opens link in new tab], click on “My Account” in the top right-hand corner of the menu bar, and log in under “Faculty, students, and staff” using your IT username and password.
Next, you click on “New Search” and enter words from the title (or topic) that you are looking for. After browsing through the results list, you find 2 items that you would like to borrow. You click on one of the items’ titles (or the link that says “Available at..” followed by a location) and are brought to the item’s record.
Now it is time to request the item. The item that you are requesting is a book, so the request link appears under the section called “Get It” (If you were requesting journal issues instead, you could’ve requested individual issues under the “Options” column on the right-hand side of the page). After clicking “Get It,” Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) shows up as your pick-up location. You then click “Request,” and the book that you chose is automatically charged to your account.
You wonder when you should go to the library to collect your loans through the contactless pickup.
