11. TFDL Service Desk
You head to the TFDL Service desk, and encounter a friendly face.
“Hello! I’m a librarian here at the TFDL. How can I help you?”
“Oh hello! I’m a new undergraduate here at UofC. I’m trying to find a place for my group to work on our project. I’m also looking for a place for myself to do some studying for my midterm,” you reply.
“Well you’ve come to the right place!” says the librarian. “We have a lot of options for studying. Floors 1-3 are a little louder, and are great for group work. Floors 4-6 are quiet study spaces, so those would be better for your solo studying. We have tables and desks on all floors that are first come first served. You can see how busy the floors are and how many spaces are available on our display screens right over there.”
You look over and see the screens you hadn’t noticed before. “Oh, that’s great! That way I don’t have to trek all the way up just to find no empty spaces!”
“Exactly, we also have those availabilities listed on our website” replies the librarian. “Did you know we have some study rooms that you can book ahead of time? Here’s the link. And there are some open computer terminals on every floor you can use to make the booking if you don’t have your own device.”
The librarian hands you a piece a paper with the address www.library.ucalgary.ca/bookings
You decide to book a study space. You head up to an open computer terminal and go to the space booking website.
