19. Requesting an Interlibrary Loan from the Library Catalogue
You find a great resource on the library catalogue, and click on the item record. It doesn’t look like we have it in our library, but under the Get It heading you can see a link to “Request Interlibrary Loan.”
You make sure you’re logged into your library account (click “Sign In” on the top right corner of the page, and enter your IT credentials). Then you click “Request Interlibrary Loan,” and you see a form pop-up with all of the information about the resource automatically filled out for you. That is an advantage of using the ILL link in the record rather than selecting interlibrary loan from the Services [opens link in new tab] menu.
All that’s left is for you to fill out the pickup location and date after which you don’t need it. TFDL has the longest hours, so that’s a good bet.
You place your request. If it’s an electronic resource like a book chapter or article, you should get your materials pretty quickly. For physical materials, it might take longer (like 1-2 weeks), and you can pick up your materials at the branch you chose.
