12. Returning Library Resources
A quick investigation of the Library website informs you that for students, all regular loans are automatically renewed ten days before their term due date (either September 30, January 30, or May 30), if they are not already returned. You check this FAQ on returning library books [opens link in new tab] to see how to return different kinds of items.
Unfortunately, you find that any items that receive a recall must be brought back by their recall date and cannot be renewed. You quickly check your email inbox for a recall notice, but don’t see anything. It’s only when you look in your junk folder however, that you see that you did receive a recall notice for both your book and physical journal article, after all.
Thank goodness! The recall date isn’t for another two days, which is great news because the late fines [opens link in new tab] are steep! You take your items back to the library and return them to the TFDL drop-box outside of the east entrance.
That evening at home, you navigate to library website home page [opens link in new tab], click on “My Account” in the top right-hand corner of the menu bar, and log in using your IT username and password. After that, you are able to view your loans, requests, and fines. This will be a good place to check in the future when you want to watch the status of your loans and account.
To celebrate, you head over to a board game café with two of your friends to eat pizza and play some games. It sure feels good to understand the library’s borrowing services and be completely fine free!
Anytime you have any questions on the library’s borrowing services in the future, you look at the Borrowing Services library page [opens link in new tab] to find out what to do!
