17. Laptop Printing

You pull out your laptop, and visit the Printing FAQ’s section [link opens in new tab] on the library website. You find an FAQ about printing from your laptop [link opens in new tab] and start reading.

It tells you that you need to attach the files you want to print to an email and send it to studentprinting@ucalgary.ca.

The instructions also tell you to include any options in the subject line (colour, single sided, legal, tabloid, page #s, etc.).

You have multiple readings to print out, each with a cover page that you don’t want to waste printing on. You attach your readings to an email and write the subject line: “pages (2-25, 2-17).”

The instructions also tell you that once you’ve sent your email, you can go to any printer on campus and touch the screen to get started. You will swipe your Unicard, and then logon using the Unicard option (not your name). Once you’ve logged in, you will tap follow you print, then select your jobs and hit print!

You find a printer on the 2nd floor. You follow the instructions, and you swipe your Unicard. Uh oh! Your Unicard is low on funds and it won’t let you print!

You start reading the library’s FAQ page on adding money to your Unicard [link opens in new tab], and see that you can either add cash at a kiosk located at the TFDL, the Macewan Student Centre outside the bookstore, or the Health Sciences Building near pureEATery. You can also add money online with a credit card.
