Volume 2, 2024-2025

Welcome to the Second Volume of Sociological Imaginations!
For the second installment of Sociological Imaginations, a more student-centered approach was utilized. Each piece was submitted for consideration by the students who produced it and underwent peer-reviews by student volunteers. Volume 2 was also edited by a volunteer student editor. This slight change from Volume 1 is an indicator of what the future of this undergraduate journal entails, one that is ideally led by the students who make up its contents. We are here to celebrate excellence, creativity, and critical thinking, and hope to highlight the great young minds that exhibit these qualities. The budding “sociological imaginations” (coined in 1959 by American sociologist C. Wright Mills) that students at the University of Lethbridge are continually developing and applying to their work is what makes this journal possible.
As this year’s student editor, being a part of this experience was incredibly rewarding. From connecting with both professors and fellow students, to engaging with my peers’ papers and projects, the whole process was an honor. The students featured in this volume truly embody the university’s motto, “Fiat Lux – let there be light”. We thank you for reading and hope that, while doing so, you find this light (or inspiration) as we all strive to think together and learn from one another.
