Sociology of Gender (2410)
As detailed in the Undergraduate Calendar, Sociology of Gender is: “An introduction to sociological perspectives on gender, focusing on the social construction of gendered bodies, subjectivities, desires, sexuality through social interaction, and institutions. Comparative and historical perspectives on gender as foundational to operations of power in western societies.” Inspired by West and Zimmerman’s concept of “doing gender”, Taylor Dunn’s essay reflects on gender as performance and touches her own personal experiences of understanding gender as a social construct.
