The Sociology of Youth (2770)

The next two pieces published were produced for the same Fall 2024 Sociology of Youth class taught by Dr. Lowik. This course is, as found in the Undergraduate Calendar: “An examination of structures and processes impacting youth in society.” Hope Nissen’s assignment stresses the importance of youth mental health and argues for more comprehensive, accessible, and informed mental health supports in schools. Next, Selena Rosteski dissects how media shapes young people’s notions of relationships, love, and sex by analyzing the song Toxic by Britney Spears and the movie Superbad directed by Greg Mottola.
