Section 3: Collaborating Through Digital Technologies
Resources on this page
You will find resources related to the following topics:
- Collaborating using Google products
- Collaborating using Microsoft products
Digital advancements have made collaborating with others much easier than in the past. Both Google and Microsoft, the two major software providers for most workplaces, offer opportunities to collaborate on documents with others through the cloud. Rather than creating an offline version of a document that needs to be emailed back and forth to colleagues or clients, you can work in real-time on live documents by using Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
If online collaboration is new to you, or new to your clients, the following resources may be useful.
Google offers many free courses that can help introduce you to online collaboration and more. Google Docs, which is an online word processor (like Microsoft Word), is a popular tool and a good place to start. Here is a link to a course offered by Google: Google Docs Free Course.
If you’d prefer a shorter tutorial, you can also try this free one from Goodwill Community Foundation: Google Docs Free Tutorial.
Microsoft 365
Similarly, Microsoft provides many resources to help you learn how to collaborate online using their products. Here is a link to a short tutorial about how to collaborate using Word: Collaborate in Word Tutorial.
For more training on Microsoft products, including SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, a wide variety of tutorials can be found here: Microsoft 365 Training.
