3.5 Searching in the Library Search

The best place to search for articles and books is the library homepage search. Just type your search into the search bar.

The example search is: (“global warming” OR climate change”) AND whale* AND (migrat* OR movement)

The search results will pop up. You can edit your search in the search bar if you want to broaden or narrow your search.

 

If you want to limit your results to just journal articles, or just peer-reviewed articles, you can use the filters in the side bar.

 

If you want to look at an article, you can click Get PDF or View Online.

Sign In for Access

Make sure to sign into the library search so that you can access library resources.

 

Tips

  • If you have too few results, try using more OR terms or fewer AND terms
  • If you have irrelevant results, try using more specific keywords
  • Searching is iterative, keep trying new searches until you have enough useful results
