Tracy Boger, B.Ed., M.Ed., Ph.D.
Tracy Boger started her teaching career in 1996. In her first few years of teaching, it became evident that she had a keen interest in technology. During this phase of her career, she taught a variety of Career and Technology Studies courses, including Information Processing, Media Design and Communication Arts, and Programming. Tracy also gained valuable experience integrating technology into core subjects, most notably secondary Social Studies and Math (which are her major and minor areas of specialization). Due to her keen interest in technology and eagerness to learn, she was appointed to the position of school Technology Coordinator.
Upon earning her M.Ed. in Instructional Design, Tracy led various teams that provided professional development to faculty in post-secondary institutions. This includes her roles working as the Coordinator of the Educational Technology Professional Development Unit at the University of Alberta, and the Acting Chair of the Suncor Educational Technology Centre at Keyano College. Upon the birth of her twin daughters, Tracy took a brief career hiatus and worked part-time teaching online educational technology courses. This eventually led to her securing a full-time teaching faculty position at Keyano College. At the time of writing, Tracy has been teaching educational technology courses to preservice teachers for nearly 15 years. In addition, she has taught many undergraduate education courses, including courses in the fields of Educational Foundations, Educational Psychology, Educational Technology, Educational Policy, and Field Experience Preparation. Tracy also has 6 years experience coordinating the Keyano College and University of Alberta BEd program. This award winning program won the CiCan Gold Award of Excellence in Tracy’s 3rd year of running the program.
As a post-secondary instructor at Keyano College Tracy continues to model innovation. During her time with the college, she has been awarded three Educational Technology grants (Learning Innovation Grant, SoTL grant, and OER grant). She has worked with Keyano College’s Center of Teaching and Learning (CTL) to pilot new tools at the college, which has often resulted in her co-facilitating educational technology workshops for faculty. In 2025, she was recognized for her contributions to the college community with Keyano College’s Educational Technology Excellence Award.
Tracy’s current research interests include professional development, practical applications of technology in the classroom, and action research projects that provide insight into best practices for technology integration. Tracy also serves on the Keyano College Research and Ethics Board (REB) and continues to mentor faculty in an unofficial capacity.
