Acknowledgments

This book owes its existence to the support of Sydney Rosewarn, who initiated my journey into creating this Open Educational Resource. Her initial edits to the credited textbook below set me on this path.

My extreme gratitude also extends to Emma Duke. Her contributions involved drafting each chapter, devising numerous activities, inputting all of the content into Pressbooks, and ensuring the completion of this project in a timely manner. She truly deserves acknowledgment for transforming this book from concept to reality.

I also want to thank Emma Panter for her design work. Her vision and talent were instrumental to the look and feel of the book.

Thanks also go to Haley Hawes and Xenia Reloba de la Cruz for their editing and content suggestions. My gratitude is also extended to Erik Christiansen and Taylor McPeak for their help in reviewing the final draft for usability and copyright compliance.

The substantial adaptation of this book draws from the resources listed below:

Saylor Academy. (2012). Principles of Sociological Inquiry: Qualitative and Quantitative Methods (v. 1.0). https://saylordotorg.github.io/text_principles-of-sociological-inquiry-qualitative-and-quantitative-methods/index.html

Furthermore, ChatGPT: Language Model (GPT-3.5), (https://chat.openai.com/), played a role in helping me expand several chapters by offering communication-specific examples, elaborating on key terms, and also by assisting with the editing process in some places. Moreover, the images that start each chapter were generated with the help of Microsoft 365 Create.

This book project was also supported by Mount Royal University Library in partnership with the University of Alberta through the Open Education Alberta project.
