| Field Characters | Medium sized leafy bipartite cyanolichen. Colonies composed of shallowly lobed, rosettiform or overlapping thalli. Lobes thin, dimpled (dimples correspond to rhizines below), with plane to downturned lobe tips, lacking pruina and tomentose. Cortex typically shiny, grey to brownish-grey when dry, blue-grey to dark grey when wet. Lower cortex lacking, lower surface covered in a contrasting network of flat veins and elongate interstices. Rhizines present, aligned in concentric rows, black and tufted. Apothecia red-brown, flat and plate-like to scarcely rolled under. Vegetative propagules absent. |

| Ecology | Typically on soil, mosses, or downed wood. Very rare, known to date from river valley and riparian areas in the boreal, foothills and mountains. One historical record of an occurrence in the Edmonton River Valley (Haughland et al. 2022). |
