Field Characters Fruticose, hair-like chlorolichen. Brown, tufted or shrubby, rarely pendant. Branches shiny, with narrow, linear soralia typically bristling with isidia.
Similar species
None in Alberta – this is our only isidiate Bryoria.
Ecology Grows on conifers across central to eastern boreal forests in Alberta. Common in well-lit jack pine stands.
Chemistry Cortex and soralia K-, KC-, PD+ red, UV- (fumarprotocetraric acid)
