Anaptychia

ANAPTYCHIA Körber

2 species recorded in Alberta:

crinalis (Schaerer) Vězda (Esslinger 2007)  NA reports of setifera belong here ACIMS
elbursiana (Szatala) Poelt (Esslinger 2002a) Syn.: Physconia thomsonii   ACIMS

DICHOTOMOUS KEY – see Heterodermia Key

*Only consistent trait to separate Anaptychia from Physconia is the prosoplectenchymatous cortex in Anaptychia [individual hyphae can be distinguished, upper surface looks vaguely ‘combed’ along lobe lengths] and the paraplectenchymatous [separate hyphae cannot be distinguished and cells look isodiametric] or scleroplectenchymatous cortex [same as paraplectenchymatous but cells embedded in thick extracellular matrix] in Physconia

Goward does not include Anapthychia elbursiana.
