| Field Characters | Medium sized bipartite foliose cyanolichen. Photobiont Nostoc, non-stratified, with defined cortices. Olive black to brown to grey, lightly appressed to the substrate to slightly ascending and sparsely attached. Lobes ruffled, rounded, with the upper surface surface smooth to minutely wrinkled. Abundant granular to cylindrical to branching isidia form on the upper surface and margins in irregular patches. Tomentum present, forming a short dense coat on the lower surface, and small patches on the upper cortex in sheltered regions of some collections. Apothecia rare. Thalli gelatinous and shiny when wet but swelling very little. |

| Ecology | Most commonly epiphytic or on downed wood, occasionally on rock in the mountains. Occasional in wetter, older forests the mountain, foothills and boreal forested regions of Alberta. |
