To support the development of AI case studies, Soroush Sabbaghan created a custom AI tool called the AI Case Study Studio.

Why Was the AI Case Study Studio Created for the Event?

The AI in Higher Education Innovation Exchange is about more than just conversation—it’s about capturing and sharing real examples of how educators are using AI in their teaching. But we also know that:

• Most educators are too busy to sit down and write formal case studies from scratch.
• Not everyone feels confident writing in an academic format, even when they have important stories to tell.
• We didn’t want these valuable insights to be lost after the event.

So, we created the AI Case Study Studio to solve that.

Think of it as a supportive writing assistant built specifically for educators. Its purpose is to make it easy for anyone—no matter their writing background—to turn their experience into a polished, professional case study. In this way, all those practical examples of AI in teaching can be collected, shared, and used by others across UCalgary and beyond.

How Does It Work? (Non-Technical Version)

You don’t need to know anything about artificial intelligence to use it. Here’s what happens:

1. You Tell Your Story
You fill out a simple online form. It’s just a series of friendly questions:

• What AI tool did you use?
• What was the course or setting?
• What problem were you trying to solve?
• What happened? What worked well? What didn’t?

It’s like telling a colleague about what you tried in your class.

2. The Tool Turns It Into a Case Study
Once you fill out the form, the system does the heavy lifting:

• It organizes your answers into the standard structure used in professional case studies.
• It rewrites your story in a clear, academic tone—but keeps your voice.
• It adds formatting (like headings, structure, and references) so it’s ready to share or publish.

3. You Get a Finished, Professional Document
In just a few minutes, you receive:

• A polished draft of your case study.
• Suggestions to improve or expand it.
• A downloadable document that you can edit, submit to the event’s open-access collection, or use elsewhere.
